Although there is no strict definition of the “open” crate unlike the closed crate or case (also known as Close Boarded Case) the general rule is the Open crate can be divide into two types the Open frame crate and the open crate.
The open frame crate is the most basic providing the minimum level of protection or security and ideally suited medium to large goods not affected by the elements and requiring the minimum level of packaging with economy in mind.
The open crate will have more enclosed providing a higher level of protection and may also have and a partially enclosed lid or/and sides and base.
